File this one under bittersweet news, at least for this year’s San Diego Comic Con attendees. For those hoping to attend a Game of Thrones panel at this year’s convention, that dream will have to be put aside at least of another year.
HBO announced today that it will be skipping this year’s convention as far as Game of Thrones was concerned. It also broke the news that its other hit drama Westworld will also be missing in action in San Diego.
Fret not fans as the network did give its reasons for missing out on all the fun this year. “Due to production schedules and air dates for Game of Thrones and Westworld, these series will not be presented at San Diego Comic-Con this summer,” a representative for the networ said. “HBO has a longstanding relationship with SDCC, and we are very grateful for the fans’ enthusiastic response over the years. We look forward to returning in the future.”
Given that the last season’s release date has yet to be released, all hope is not lost that the cast of the show will be back for next year’s convention . On the other hand, there is the slightly bad news that the show might air all of its episode prior to next year’s event, which makes the news of the cast skipping out this year quite the bitter pill to swallow.
The Game of Thrones Hall H panel has been one of the convention’s biggest draws in the past seven years and will definitely be missed as one of its events to witness at San Diego Comic Con.
