One of everyone’s fave funny ladies, Rebel Wilson is ready to dip her toes into the world of comic book adaptation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilson will produce and star in an adaptation of the comic book Crowded.
The Image Comics series, written by Christopher Sebela and drawn by Ro Stein and Ted Brandt, follows Charlie, a young woman in the near future where an assassination app named Reapr is all the rage. She finds her quiet, normal life disrupted when she becomes targeted on Reapr with a multimillion dollar bounty on her head. With limited funds, she hires Vita, the lowest rated bodyguard on the Defnd app. They work together to fend off aspirational assassins and figure out who wanted Charlie in the 30-day period before the contract on her ends.
(Anyone else feel like they’ve seen this episode of Black Mirror?)
Sebela will act as a consulting producer on the movie. A search for a writer for the feature will begin.
Wilson will produce the film under Camp Sugar shingle. This will be her third project under her own production company banner. The first two are The Hustle and the remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels which stars Wilson and Anne Hathaway.
There’s currently no release date for the film.
