One of the best parts of the uneven yet compelling first season of Luke Cage was Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard. Why wouldn’t she be? Alfre Woodard is one hell of an actress.
At the end of the first season, fans saw her ready to take over the criminal enterprise after being ousted from her political office. She even had a new boy toy in Shades (Theo Rossi). We’re still hoping that those two crazy kids are together.
While Mariah hasn’t been center stage yet in the Luke Cage push for season two, she’s taken the spotlight in this newest trailer. She seeing herself more as a hero than a villain.
With a new bulletproof baddie (Mustafa Shakir) and a crime boss (Annabella Sciorra) looking to expand into Harlem, Mariah’s ready to protect her turf. That means teaming up with Luke Cage (Mike Colter).
The real question is will Luke want to her “dark chocolate boy scout”? Or, will he have to face both new and threats and old alone? Either way, it looks like a war for Harlem is about to break out in the second season of the series.
Luke Cage hits Netflix on June 22nd.
