Bradley Cooper’s long-gestating remake of the classic film A Star Is Born released its first trailer today. Featuring the vocal and acting talents of Lady Gaga in her first feature film lead role, viewers certainly get the experience of the movie from the trailer.
The story focuses on Cooper’s Jackson Maine, a fading country crooner who struggles to find relevancy after playing packed crowds. When his career lapses, he finds new direction when he meets struggling artist, Ally (Lady Gaga).
Ally, however, suffers from self-esteem issues and is self-conscious about her look. While others have loved her voice, they didn’t like her appearance.
Jackson, however, takes her under his wing. As Ally’s career soars, she and Jackson go through personal highs and lows in their romance. The trailer closes with Jackson pushing Ally to play before a large crowd.
Maybe there’s more to the trailer, but with the montages and everything, it kind of feels like we may have seen the entire movie? (Maybe save for the end.) It also does feel like the film is trying to rack up those award nominations.
Still it looks well-made and the music, which features original work by Gaga and other songwriters, does sound good.
Hopefully, there will be more to it when A Star Is Born hits theatres October 5th.
