One of the sterling performances of the MCU comes from Krysten Ritter in Jessica Jones.
Her performance of the titular character has been praised to hell and back. The fact that she hasn’t been nominated for numerous acting awards shows the bias against genre shows. She’s a revelation in the role: equal parts broken and whole, strong and weak, vulnerable and steely.
Ritter’s involvement behind the scenes should also be noted, having major input on the character.
Now she’s about to step into the director’s chair.
According to Deadline, Krysten Ritter will direct a season three episode of Jessica Jones. This episode will be Ritter’s directorial debut and marks the first time an actor directed an episode of an MCU show.
The third season of the critically acclaimed show recently began filming in New York City. It’s unknown which episode she will direct.
On this debut, she said, “I am beyond thrilled to make my directorial debut on Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” said Ritter. The entire crew and cast has become family to me, and I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins.”
Jessica Jones season three does not have a release date.
