Marvel fans have been bereft ever since Agent Carter felt the cold axe of cancellation back in 2016. There have been petitions and pleas, hope that somehow Carter could be revived.
Hayley Atwell, meanwhile, has gone onto different projects. Her work on Howard’s End has been critically acclaimed. She has an upcoming role in the Disney project, Christopher Robin due out later this summer. That project has generated huge buzz as well.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Atwell was asked if the ending of Infinity War could lead to Peggy Carter’s return. (Of course, Atwell had to be spoiled first on the end.)
“To get a call now would be like, ‘Oh, God!’ I’m sure anything could happen, but it’s this genre world that’s so multifaceted it’s like, will it ever die?”
To be honest, it doesn’t sound like Atwell is too interested at the moment. In the past, however, she has expressed at the prospect. Which is fair because she’s a busy woman. Hopefully, if the revival does happen, then we get to see her return.
She did share about how much she loved working with the team at Marvel.
“I really like them, and I love the way…they made me feel safe and also empowered. That’s the best thing to come out of it. It’s not this kind of – from my experience – scary, patriarchal, dominant, body-shaming Hollywood sphere machine. It was just really nerdy guys who love what they’re doing.”
