Marvel movies attract all kinds of actors. We can all agree on that.
Still it’s always a surprise when an actor who normally avoids the big blockbusters ends up joining on. (Need we go back to Laura Linney in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows?)
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Annette Bening (The Seagull) has joined the cast of Captain Marvel. Details on her character are scarce, we don’t even have a name. All that we know about her is that she’s a scientist.
We don’t even know if she’s Kree or human.
Bening has joined an all-star cast that includes Brie Larson as the titular hero, an Air Force pilot who gains superpowers following having her DNA fused with that of an alien. A hint of her was scene in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War.
Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn and Gemma Chan are also in the cast. Reprising their roles in the MCU are Samuel L Jackson, Clark Gregg, Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace. Needless to say, it certainly looks like a cast to beat.
The film is also set sometime in the 90s and will be directed by Mississippi Grind directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
Captain Marvel will hits theatres March 6th, 2019.
