Jessica Jones is clearly the crown jewel of the Marvel-Netflix show roster. With Krysten Ritter’s pitch perfect portrayal of the character plus an excellent supporting cast and sold writing, its renewal was all put assured.
So we don’t think anyone was too surprised with the news that Jessica Jones had scored a third season on Netflix. We were pleased, yes, just not overly surprised.
The second season saw Jessica in the aftermath of The Defenders and killing Kilgrave (David Tennant) in season one of her solo series. It also saw the private investigator dig into her own past and how she got her powers. It certainly led down a road of family, self-discovery, and maybe Jessica just forgiving herself a tiny bit.
We won’t spoil the second season for those few who haven’t seen it yet. At the end of season two, Jessica was mostly alone. Both of her friends, Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) and Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville), were on the outs with her for…various reasons. Jessica, however, took a step toward human connection with her super/kind of boyfriend Oscar (J.R. Ramirez) and his son.
It, of course, leads all sorts of doors opened for season three.
Jessica Jones seasons one and two are available on Netflix. Season three currently doesn’t have a release date.
