The fact that Big Little Lies is going to return to our screens with its second season in 2019 is something that most fans are quite excited about. Especially because we know that all leading ladies will be back in season two, as well as Alexander Skarsgard, even though his character died at the end of season one, and we’ll probably explore his character more through flashbacks.
We have also received the exciting news that Meryl Streep will join the cast in the upcoming season as Perry’s mother.
Though with all these strong and fierce ladies returning and joining the cast, it leaves us wondering if the men by their sides will return as well.
Thankfully, TVLine has revealed that Adam Scott, who played Ed, Madeline’s (Reese Witherspoon) husband, will return as series regular in the next season.
According to an HBO spokesperson, Ed will be “forced to confront major challenges in his marriage to Madeline.”
Sounds like trouble is coming their way, though it is not really surprising, given what we know about Madeline already from the first season. Obviously, I mean her affair with Joseph (Santiago Cabrera), the theater director with whom she worked.
Deadline, in addition, has revealed that Iain Armitage, who played Jane’s (Shailene Woodley) son Ziggy will also return as series regular in the next season. Ziggy, probably along with the other kids, will start his next year in school and continues to be the light of Jane’s life, as a spokesperson of HBO revealed.
Along with Armitage and Scott, James Tupper, who played Nathan Carlson – Bonnie’s (Zoë Kravitz) husband, and Jeffrey Nordling, who played Gordon Klein – Renata’s (Laura Dern) husband, will also be back as series regulars.
The short teasers for what’s in stock for Nathan and Gordon in season two does not sound like it will be easy for both men. While Gordon “faces the consequences of a big mistake and risks losing everything along the way,” Nathan has to cope “with a complicated turn of events in his marriage and with his eldest daughter Abby.”
It sounds like it won’t be boring in Monterey for a second year in a row and I cannot wait to see what is going to happen in season two of Big Little Lies.
