Deadpool Introduces Us To Our New Cable Provider With The Latest Trailer

I know we were all pretty bummed that we didn’t get a Deadpool 2 trailer during the Super Bowl this past Sunday. The studio, however, has more than made up for it with their brand new trailer.

In it, we get our first real look at Josh Brolin’s Cable, metal arm and all. Of course, in true Deadpool fashion, we have to take a brief detour before we really get to see it. In this situation, that consists of Deadpool acting the trailer out with action figures (and, if you notice, the Deadpool action figure is wearing Woody’s costume from Toy Story).

The trailer comes with a brand new Flashdance-themed poster:

We don’t know a whole lot about the plot of the story, but it’s abundantly clear that Cable and Deadpool are not friends this time around. Throughout the comics, Deadpool and Cable have a, shall we say, tense relationship. Often forced into working together, Cable loathes Deadpool, and has, in fact, said that he became a time-traveler just to get away from Deadpool. Cable comes from a war-torn future, which he is tasked with going back in time to prevent said war-torn future from coming to pass. The specifics of Cable’s backstory for this film remain to be seen. To be honest, I was not a big fan of the photos of Josh Brolin as Cable, but this trailer definitely changed my mind.

This trailer also gives us a brief – but totally badass – look at Zazie Beetz as Domino. Domino is a fellow highly skilled mercenary with the added mutant power of luck. She is often an ally of Cable’s, and has the same kind of relationship with Deadpool as Cable does, which is to say…complicated.

Also returning are Weasel (TJ Miller), Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Briana Hildebrand), and Colossus (Stefan Kapicic).

If you couldn’t tell from the trailer, Deadpool 2 hits theaters May 18th.
