For some time now, we know that Claire Foy, Matt Smith, and Vanessa Kirby will leave The Crown after its second season, as the show will recast the actors, due to the progressive age of the characters and the producers’ desire to keep it as real as possible without using too much make-up and whatnot.
While we already know that Olivia Colman will be playing Elizabeth in seasons three and four and there is a high chance of Helena Bonham Carter joining the popular show as Princess Margaret, there has not been a word yet about who might be playing Philip in the next two seasons. After all, his character is particularly important to the Queen and we got to see more about his past in the second season, which highlighted his importance in the show.
According to Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, Netflix is already negotiating with an actor we all know from the MCU to play Prince Philip in season three and four! None other than Jarvis himself, best known as Paul Bettany could be our next Prince! And I can see the resemblance a little bit, to be honest.

Bamigboye was also the one to spill the beans about Olivia Colman taking over the crown as Queen Elizabeth II, so he is a quite legit source and hopefully, he is right about this, as Bettany seems to be a great choice to replace Matt Smith as Prince Philip on the show.
As Netflix still has to confirm Helena Bonham Carter’s casting as Princess Margaret and we only have the unofficial confirmation of Vanessa Kirby, we probably have to wait a bit longer until the streaming platform will confirm Bettany’s and Bonham Carter’s casting. Nevertheless, I am already excited to see all three actors take on the roles in the next two seasons.
