Fans are more than familiar with the long black hair of Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the character brought to life by Tom Hiddleston almost had a completely new look for the latest film, Thor: Ragnarok.
Concept artist Aleksi Briclot has revealed his early concept for Loki – swapping the trademark black hair for something altogether different, a mohawk.
Briclot posted the image on Instagram saying, “Another early concept art for Loki, played by the intense and awesome (Tom Hiddleston). The final concept was designed by (Anthony Fransisco). I was trying something else with the haircut on this one.”

Another early concept art for Loki the mischievous God of Lies and Mischief for Thor : Ragnarök! Played by the intense and awesome #twhiddleston. It’s interesting because in press interviews for Ragnarok, Hiddleston mentioned that following CHris Hemsworth’s Thor getting a haircut, he also asked for one – and director Taika Waititi responded with a firm “no”.
Hiddleston asked with good reason too; the wig he wears takes a lot of time to put on, but you can watch it happen here with time lapse!
Hiddleston’s next screen outing is with the new Aardman film, Early Man, in which he again plays a villain – albeit almost unrecognisably, voicing the character Lord Nooth. The film also stars Eddie Redmayne and Maisie Williams.
We will see Loki again in Avengers: Infinity War. Picking up right where Thor: Ragnarok left off, he will look as he did in the final moments of November’s Marvel Studios film.
