Check Out Tom Hardy In The New Marvel Film, Venom

Marvel Studios is absolutely shredding it with its releases lately – and now we’ve got none other than Tom Hardy about to pop up as Venom!

But with the release of the latest image from the film, well we didn’t quite get what we wanted. While Marvel has released the first still of Hardy, it is in fact in the guise of his human side. The image shows Eddie Brock, washed up tabloid reporter, and not so much the murderous alien parasite that is Venom.

However keen eyes have already zoomed in on the book that Hardy’s character is holding, which like everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is far more than just a prop. The book is a nice little Easter egg for fans.

When zoomed in, the book says ‘The Life Foundation!’.

For those less familiar with this name, The Life Foundation is a survivalist group in the Marvel Universe that has plagued Spider-Man on more than one occasion. However they really came in to their own in the 90s Venom: Lethal Protector story. Life Foundation Board of Directors member Roland Treece kidnapped Venom and experimented on him, extracting five symbiote “children” from Venom’s DNA. The symbiotes were then bonded to five Life Foundation soldiers. They became the symbiote villain team of Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony. Lethal Protector‘s finale saw Venom and Spider-Man team up to defeat the Life Foundation team.

This little clue could mean that the movie is more then likely to borrow from the Lethal Protector storyline. It could also mean we see Venom having to face off against his symbiote, Carnage.

It could also lead to a bigger expansion of the Universe as The Life Foundation could get its own spin-off, much like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

We won’t have to wait too long, Venom is scheduled for release worldwide on October 5, 2018.
