Benedict Cumberbatch’s Mini-Series Melrose Releases Its First Teaser Trailer

It has almost been a year now since it was reported that Benedict Cumberbatch would not only star in the five-part Sky Atlantic and Showtime series Melrose but that he would also be a producer on the upcoming show.

Now, finally, Sky has released a minute-long teaser trailer for Melrose, and it looks like it’s definitely going to be an up and down of emotions!

In the beginning of the teaser, we get to see Cumberbatch as Patrick Melrose, who is sitting in a bar and downing a martini and orders another right away, which already gives us a glimpse of the severe problem his character has in the series.

The fact that Melrose struggles quite a lot in his adulthood, we get to see where it all began, and it is obvious that Patrick did not have an easy childhood, given how abusive his father was and that his mother just lets it happen.

The character description of Patrick read that he is “an aristocratic and outrageously funny playboy, who struggles to overcome the damage inflicted by an abusive father and a mother who tacitly condoned the behavior” and it is something that already becomes quite clear in the trailer.

Though in the trailer, we already see that he tries to overcome his struggles and his alcohol problem, however, it is not an easy task to undertake.

Melrose is set in the South of France in the 1960s, New York in the 1980s and in London in the early 2000s. Every other episode could be set in a new location and time frame unless Patrick Melrose’s childhood and past will be explored in flashbacks while he is in rehab, which also seems to be quite possible.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer as Melrose is set to be released sometime this year.

In the meantime, check out the teaser below and tell us what you think.
