We may only be coming to the end of the third week of January but already 2018 is shaping up to be Darren Criss’ year.
Professionally he is getting critical acclaim for his haunting, yet charismatic portrayal of spree killer Andrew Cunanan in the second season of Ryan Murphy’s true crime anthology, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. Even before the series premiered this week, he has been already gotten award buzz surrounding this role, while “Emmy” and “Golden Globe” often attached to reviews for the series. Now he has even more reason to celebrate.
Last night (January 19), Criss took to social media to announce his engagement to long-time love Mia Swier. And the announcement was done in a fashion that only the geeky fanboy Darren could do:
Mia and I have had seven and a half years of fun, wacky, wonderful, CRAZY adventures together. And I’m happy to announce that we’re kicking those adventures up a notch. We’re goin for it. To boldly go where neither of us have gone before. Engage. 🚀💍🖖 pic.twitter.com/SU23WjL12j

No further details have been released, either about the proposal, the ring or when the two will tie the knot.
Swier, who played bass for the band Shoot the Freak and the all-girl Guns N’ Roses cover band, Guns N’ Hoses, has worked with networks Fox and Showtime, including producing a number of the behind-the-scenes shorts for Murphy productions Glee and Scream Queens. She also directed the music video for Criss’ song “Lost Boys Life” for his band Computer Games.
We wish Darren and Mia all the best as they embark on this new adventure together.
