Pacific Rim: Uprising is on deck for release next March. The sequel to the 2013 film is anticipated to say the least. While we’ve had a teaser trailer/recruitment video for the Jaeger program that formed after the Kaijus were believed to be defeated, we’re ready for more.
When New York Comic Con kicks off, we’re expecting to see a full length trailer for the film at the least. Especially since everyone’s fave cinnamon roll, John Boyega, is on deck and piloting a Jaeger of his own as Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Penetcost.
Well never let it be said that Boyega doesn’t know how to get fans excited for what’s coming next. Today, he released the first poster for the film showing Jake standing before his Jaeger Gipsy Avenger (the namesake of Charlie Hunman’s Gipsy Danger) with helmet in hand and ready to rock and roll.
I have to admit, I like the poster. The only pops of color in the image come from Gipsy Avenger’s helmet and arc reactor.
Boyega’s comment with the tweet “Up next!” means that this is his next film release, following Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Pacific Rim: Uprising takes place ten years after the Battle of the Breach in the original Pacific Rim. While the Kaiju threat has since subsided, the Pan Pacific Defense Corp’s Jaeger program is more robust than ever and continues to await the Kaiju’s return.
Boyega will be joined by fellow Pacific Rim newcomers Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Adria Arjona, and Jing Tian. Returning to the film will be Rinko Kikuchi as Mako Mori along with Charlie Day and Burn Gorman as Dr. Newton Geiszler and Dr. Hermann Gottlieb.
Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil, Spartacus) will direct the film.
Pacific Rim: Uprising will hit theatres March 28th, 2018.
