After the way Game of Thrones has ended last season, it is not surprising that everyone wants to know now how the show will end.
From previous seasons’ productions, we know that oftentimes pictures from set emerge on the internet. From there, fans start to come up with theories of what might happen in the upcoming season.
To prevent that from happening in season eight, and especially to prevent leaks of the final episode, multiple endings of Game of Thrones will be shot. Something the fans will probably be thankful for. No one wants to be spoiled months ahead of how one of the best shows on TV will end.
“I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really knows what happens,” Casey Bloys, head of HBO, revealed during a speech at Moravian College, per local outlet The Morning Call.
“You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”
We really cannot blame them for it, because there have been pictures of the characters on set before. Season seven was also plagued by hackers, who released episodes online early after HBO didn’t give in to their demands.
Shooting multiple endings also means that the actors don’t even know how the show will end until the final episode will air. Thus, they can’t even give anything away in interviews. Well, nothing from the final moment that is.
It will be a while until we find out how Game of Thrones will end. Production will start this October and may run until August 2018. Depending on how long post-production will be, we won’t be able to see the show’s return until early 2019. Though, I’m sure it will be worth the wait.
