For fans of Aardman Studios today’s new trailer for their latest release Early Man is a real gift.
The world renowned animation company, who brought us such classics as Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run and Pirates: Band of Misfits has a new comedy hitting screens early next year.
Early Man is set at the dawn of time, when the earth was filled with prehistoric creatures and cavemen roamed the plains.
One such caveman, Dug, voiced by Eddie Redmayne and his sidekick Hognob have to unite their tribe against a new enemy, Lord Nooth, played by Tom Hiddleston sporting an accent that reminds us of Monty Python and the Holy Grail French Soldiers.
The trailer opens with a classic bit of slapstick comedy we know and love, taking us in to Dug’s world. A world of not quite together cavemen, and a wild boar.
It seems the boar has a bigger brain! It’s not long before the tribe are taken over by people from Bronze City, who come looking for more of the copper used in their latest commodity led by the imposing (and Gallic sounding) Lord Nooth.

As well as the new trailer, Aardman has also released a new poster for the film.
Early Man is directed by Nick Park and written by Mark Burton and John O’Farrell.
It has been produced with the help of funding from Studio Canal, as well as The British Film Institute supporting it with National Lottery funding. The budget is tipped to be around $50 million pounds.
Alongside school alumni Redmayne and Hiddleston, Early Man also stars Maisie Williams as Goona, Timothy Spall as Chief Bognar and Richard Ayoade as Treebor.
The film is scheduled for release in cinema in the UK on January 26 2018.
