Starsky And Hutch Reboot In The Works From James Gunn

Is anyone surprised that a 70s cop drama is going to get a reboot? Personally, I know I’m not.

Is anyone also surprised that James Gunn is somehow involved in said reboot? I have to admit that this bit of news honestly doesn’t surprise me in the least.

It makes so much sense when you read the sentence that James Gunn is going to develop a Starsky and Hutch reboot, right?

According to Deadline, the Guardians of the Galaxy director will co-write the pilot, executive produce the series, and (depending on his availability) direct the pilot as well.

The show, from Sony Pictures TV Studios, is described as a “character-driven, one-hour procedural” and currently does not have a home. It is looking for a network or streaming service at present. Recently, the studio produced the CBS Shemar Moore starring reboot of S.W.A.T.

The original Starsky and Hutch ran from 1975 to 79 on ABC. It starred Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul as the titular California detectives (pictured above). There was a film version made in 2004, which starred Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller. And the only thing I can say about that movie was that it existed.
