San Diego Comic Con is a big deal, and one of the most hotly anticipated panels this years was that of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Holding a coveted spot in Saturday’s Hall H lineup, it has to be said…the panel did not disappoint!

We were briefly introduced to three new characters and the actors who play them. Dacre Montgomery, best known for the recent Power Rangers film, will be joining the cast as Billy, a new student at Hawkins High. Billy is best described as a “bad boy” type character, and will serve as a new and entirely human antagonist for the series.

The second character we’re introduced to is Mad Max, a peer to the boys. She will have just moved to Hawkins from California and is one tough cookie. She is played by Sadie Sink, a broadway vet who has actually worked with co-star Gaten Matarazzo before.

The third and final newcomer introduced today was Paul Rieser, who is probably best known for his role in Alien. He will be playing a scientist who is now in charge of the rift between dimensions in Hawkins Laboratory. Based on the new footage from the upcoming season, he seems like a nice guy, but looks can certainly be deceiving. I mean, we all remember the “Papa” scene between Millie Bobby Brown and Matthew Modine.

Speaking of footage, as I’m sure we all know by now, there is a brand new full-length trailer for season two of Stranger Things. The creepy Halloween-themed trailer features Vincent Price’s intro to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (and the song itself, but let’s be real – the intro is equally as iconic as the song if not more so). The trailer focuses on Will’s experiences after returning from The Upside Down. It seems that Will’s connection with that other dimension is anything but severed.

The panel opened up for fan questions and was invaded by none other than Emmy-nominated Shannon Purser – aka Barb! Shannon got up to the mic and asked whether or not Barb would be returning. According to the Duffer brothers…she won’t be. But they confirmed that we would be getting justice for Barb! And that’s great and all, but I think we still need justice for Shannon Purser not being cast as Squirrel Girl on Freeform’s New Warriors.

Season two of Netflix’s Stranger Things will be available to stream in full starting October 27, 2017 only on Netflix.
