Even though we got X-Men: Apocalypse last year and Logan only a few months ago so we shouldn’t yearn for another X-Men movie we do, though no one can really blame us for it. After all, the movies are brilliant, as well as the cast in them.

Luckily, we don’t have to wait that much longer either as X-Men: Dark Phoenix is currently in the making and besides the recurring cast from X-Men: Apocalypse, new actors and actresses are set to join the franchise.

One of them will possibly be Jessica Chastain. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the actress is currently negotiating to join the movie as the villain Lilandra.

Lilandra is ”the empress of an alien empire called the Shi’ar, who leads the quest to imprison and execute Dark Phoenix, sending her into conflict with the X-Men”.

James McAvoy, who plays the younger version of Professor X, seems to already look forward to working with the redhead and we cannot wait to see her as Lilandra, so hopefully, the negotiations will go well!

The storyline around Jean Grey was briefly adapted for X-Men: The Last Stand, but fans did not really like it much and it was critically maligned. So, it will be interesting to see how fans and critics will react to Dark Phoenix.

Another question, of course, was in which year the movie would be placed, as the X-Men timeline is a little bit confusing and they time jump quite a bit. ComicBook.com has the answer to that question and according to Omega Underground’s Christopher M, the movie will be set in 1991.

Clearly, this will place the movie after what has happened in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: First Class. However, it is set well before the very first X-Men movie, which is set in 2000 and the following X-Men movies.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set to be released in 2018.
