The beginning of 2017 is fast disappearing and we are starting to look to the 2017-18 TV season… good news for all us whose shows have already had their finales and are gearing up for new season. This is a particularly joyful time for fans of American Horror Story as we start to be drip-fed tidbits about what we can expect for the upcoming season.
To date we know that season 7 of the horror anthology will somehow focus on the 2016 US Presidential election and be somehow connected to season 4’s Freak Show. We also know that fan favourites and AHS core cast members Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are both returning. Recently we were given the first new blood for the season… actor-comedian Billy Eichner.
Eichner, who is best known for the man-on-the-street series Billy on the Street, has been cast in a “heavily recurring role,” likely to appear in “six or seven of the 11 episodes in season 7” reports Deadline. And in true AHS fashion, absolutely nothing is known about his character, however sources have let a few details slip. Apparently he will be “playing a close confidant of Paulson’s character” and has a penchant for wearing “mysterious tank tops”. Make of that what you will.
Filming of the seventh season is due to begin in May, so no doubt we will get more casting news over the next few weeks. I’m not holding out hope for anything more plot-related till maybe July-August, though we do know that the first episode takes place on Election Night.
American Horror Story season 7 will premiere on FX in September.
