The Unofficial Fellowship Of The Ring Reunion Delights Fans

The Fellowship of the Ring recently reunited for the 15th anniversary of the Lord of the Rings film adaptations, but it wasn’t quite an official affair. However, from the pictures on Dominic Monaghan’s Instagram, it looked like a heck of a lot of fun.

While the official date for the anniversary of the release of the film was last December, stars Elijah Wood (Frodo), Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Billy Boyd (Pippin) and Monaghan (Merry) gathered at a pub not unlike The Green Dragon, found in Hobbiton in the Shire, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Fellowship of The Ring, the first in the trilogy of The Lord of The Rings.

They were however missing Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Sean Astin (Sam), Sean Bean (Boromir) and John Rhys-Davies (Gimli).

As well as posting a number of selfies, much to fans delight, the quintet also grabbed some cutlery and recreated the Moria fight scene, captioning the photo with Boromir’s, “They have a cave troll.”

Last week Empire did a beautiful commemorative piece where all the stars interviewed one another, while also reminding us with their young faces how long ago the movies actually were. The interview is a lovely mix of light-hearted and deep philosophical questions. What does come through though is how the cast have remained friends even though it is over a decade since the films’ release.

The Fellowship of The Ring, along with The Two Towers and The Return of The King are still critically acclaimed and hailed by many as one of the best cinematic adaptations of the novels to date. I know that 15 years on, I still love nothing more on a rainy wet weekend than to have a LOTR marathon with my kids and relive the magic of this well-loved story.
