Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the best films in the ever popular Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It’s funny. It’s retro-cool. It has a great cast. Most fans, dedicated or casual, will agree that the best part is the rocking soundtrack. Awesome Mix Vol. 1 provided an amazing soundtrack for the film. More importantly, it introduced a whole new generation to the music that it featured.

Truly, it was an awesome mix of music.

It played an important role in the film as it represented Peter’s connection to his mother.

During a press visit to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige talked about the important of Awesome Mix Vol. 2 in the film.

“The other Guardians now know that music is a thing for Peter [Quill, Star-Lord], so in early scenes you see Baby Groot setting up these little outerspace speakers so that the music can play for all of them, because Quill likes to hear music when he’s fighting. So, it does go to more than just his headset.”

I’m down with seeing awesome choreographed fights to classic rock. While Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) distracted Ronan (Lee Pace) with “O-O-Oh Child” at the climax of the first film, Vol. 2 will have an even more relevant song.

Feige said, “I would say that a couple of the songs, and particularly one song has very unique lyrics that play in much more specifically into the plot than any song did in the first film.”

Get pumped!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theatres in May 2017.
