Batman: The Brave and the Bold was a Cartoon Network show that took a lot of inspiration from the Silver Age of Comics. It was silly. It was fun. Bat-Baby happened. People were introduced to a greater scope to the DC Universe.
One of the best inventions from the show, however, came from “Mayhem of the Music Meister”. In this all musical episode, Neil Patrick Harris voiced the titular Meister who sought to control the world through song and dance. Most of the songs were pretty catchy and it was a pretty fun episode.
Ever since The Flash and Supergirl musical crossover was announced, fans have pretty much assumed that it will be the Music Meister driving the show.
And hey! We’re right on the money there.
On Sunday, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the Music Meister would be the villain for the episodes. While it would be great to see NPH return to the role in live action, part of me is not convinced it will happen.
Still with Glee alum Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist in the titular roles, my heart knows that the Music Meister must be a Glee alum as well. Male or female!
Personally, if people remember the Sebastian Smythe storyline from Glee‘s third season, I think it would be most hilarious if Chris Colfer returned to TV to play villain to Gustin’s hero. Honestly though? I would be happy to see a former Glee mate come to take the Meister’s role.
So how’s the episode going to go down? Because let’s be real that “four night event” was not really a four night crossover. This time, however, we will see greater multiversal interaction between Supergirl and The Flash.
Supergirl EP Andrew Kreisberg said: “When we get to the musical episode, both Barry and Kara will find themselves at pivotal crossroads on their respective series. The experience of going through the musical will have a great impact on both series moving forward.”
Now the real question is will the music be originals or covers? That’s still up in the air.
“We’re still working that out right now. We’re still writing the script and trying to figure out exactly what we’re going to do”, Kreisberg said.
If you want my opinion, then I think a mix would be best. It’s hard to right musical lyrics especially under a deadline.
Supergirl returns January 23rd and The Flash returns January 24th.
