The only thing we have to look forward to in 2017 is the entertainment that we’re getting.

It looks like we’re starting the year off on the right foot with A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Based on the popular book series, the show follows Baudelaire children. After the loss of their parents in a freak accident, they are sent to live with the evil Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris).

Olaf, in a bevy of disguises, plans on killing the children and taking their vast fortune for himself. Why? Well you need to watch the show for that.

In a new trailer, we see Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton). He warns the audience that the show is going to profoundly depressing.

“If you’re interested in stories with happy endings, that story is streaming elsewhere.”

Clearly, Snicket has not seen the majority of streaming shows. They’re great, but super dark. Even the comedies are a little dark.

In the second trailer, we see the terrible childhood the children are forced to endure under Olaf’s dubious care. Sent to work in the mill, the three escape to find their Aunt Josephine and avoid Olaf.

It looks fun, dark and like a real romp. Proving that if it doesn’t work as a movie, make it as a series on Netflix.

Embrace the adage. Love the adage.

A Series of Unfortunate Events hits screens January 13th.
