Marvel fans are endlessly trying to figure out when (or if) they’ll see their favorite characters teaming up on the big screen, but their actors are having off screen team-ups as well.

Spider-Man: Homecoming actor Tom Holland has joined The Current War. This film is based on the true story of the race between titans Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse to develop a practical system of electricity and market it to the American people.

Tom Holland will join the cast in the role of Samuel Insull, Edison’s assistant, Deadline confirmed.

Thomas Edison will be portrayed by fellow Brit and Marvel actor, Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock; Dr. Strange).

The cast of the movie includes Michael Shannon (Midnight Special) as Westinghouse, Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class) as Nikolai Tesla, and Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Westinghouse’s wife Marguerite.

This star-studded, multi-talented cast promises to turn The Current War into a stand-out film for all.

It is a chance for fans to see Tom Holland alongside Benedict Cumberbatch before Avengers: Infinity War release. Possibly the only time that we will see Holland, Cumberbatch and Hoult (who plays Beast in the X-Men films) together, since that team-up is not happening.

After working with Australian actor Chris Hemsworth (Thor: The Dark World) on Heart Of The Sea, Cumberbatch and Hoult are fellow (Marvel) superhero actors Tom Holland is working with on a non-Marvel production.

The director of The Current War will be Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, who also directed Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. The film is written by Michael Mitnick.

Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) is set to produce the project alongside Garret Basch and Steve Zaillian. Filming is set to start sometime in 2017.

The Current War do not has any release dates at the present.
