Strike Up The Band: The Latest Sing Trailer Shows The Trials Of Its Characters

SingĀ is probably either going to be a really good movie or a really bad movie. I can’t quite tell which way the trailers are going yet though.

What I can tell you is that the trailers are definitely making me interested for the movie.

They look cute and kind of charming.

So I was surprised when, in the latest trailer, they went a little bit darker. It showed the various issues of the other characters such as Ash (Scarlett Johansson) dealing with a cheating boyfriend. Meanwhile, Meena (Tori Kelly) suffers from severe stage fright and a family who doesn’t quite understand how to help.

Then we have what we’ve seen before from the other trailers Johnny (Taron Egerton) doesn’t want to get involved with the family business of crime and Rosita (Reese Witherspoon) feels overworked and under appreciated.

Rounding out the cast is Nick Kroll, John C. Reilly, and Seth MacFarlane.

It definitely feels the most human of the films from Illumination Entertainment. (If you hate the Minions, then you can blame these guys.) Despite the animals, I really do get a sense of genuine emotion from the cast. Personally, I can’t wait to hear the covers.

I’m a sucker for a good cover of an awesome song.

SingĀ comes out December 21st for those who want to check it out.
