You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who didn’t have the tales of Winnie-the-Pooh as part of their childhood, in some way shape or form. The little yellow bear with the fat tummy, red shirt and a penchant for honey has been around since 1926 when Winnie-the-Pooh was first published.
Written by English author A.A. Milne, the stories revolve around a little bear and his human companion Christopher Robin, named after Milne’s son. They are joined on many adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood by Piglet, Tigger, Kanga and Roo and Eeyore the Donkey.
Now Fox Searchlight has announced that there is a biopic in the works, and principal photography has commenced. The as yet untitled project stars Domhnall Gleeson as the well loved writer and Margot Robbie as his wife Daphne.
When the stories were first published in 1926 they took England by storm, becoming hugely popular and with that, it thrust Milne and his family into the spotlight. The movie will look at the relationships between father and son, as well as how the publicity affected the family as a whole, including their nanny Olive. It sadly has also overshadowed all of the author’s works, both before and since.
Will Tilson has been cast in the role of Christopher Robin Milne and Kelly Macdonald plays Olive. The cast is currently filled out with Stephen Campbell Moore, Nico Mirallegoro, Simon Williams and Bentley Kalu.
USA Today have released some exclusive picture from the set with the first one being posted on their Twitter page.
