Easter Eggs in movies, series or games are inside jokes or hidden messages they often take references to other movies, series, characters, games, the future or the past. They are not seen by everyone but some of them are so amazing that we need to show them here.
Check out our list of what we think are the best Easter eggs out there!
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
We got an amazing Easter egg from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It’s one of my favorite movies and one of my favorite easter eggs of all time. And it’s so topical because many people realize that there is an Easter egg by re-watching the movie now. When Harry Potter is getting the Marauder’s Map from the Weasley Twins and they look on the map together, they see all the people walking around Hogwarts. And one of these people is Newt Scamander. Oh my god, this can’t be true. For everyone who does not know who Newt Scamander is, there is a movie coming up named Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Newt Scamander is male lead role portrayed by Eddie Redmayne. But the movie takes place in the year 1926 while Harry’s third school year takes place in the year 1993. So what is the 96 year’s old Newt Scamander doing in Hogwarts?! Maybe we’ll never know. But the Easter egg is cool anyway.
For those who haven’t seen the movie, it’s a neo-noir superhero film from 2009 directed by Zack Synder. It takes place in a DC multiverse, which is like no other. For example, Batman does not exist in this universe. But why? Before the movie starts, you see a little bit of the pre-story of the different members of the Watchmen in pictures, and there is one picture when one of the watchmen knocks out a thief who has a gun. In front of a theatre. On the left side, you can see a lady and a gentleman coming out of the theatre. Yep, everyone. That’s the night in which Mr. and Mrs. Wayne were supposed to be killed but they got saved which explains why there’s no Batman in Watchmen. Bruce Wayne never lost his parents, so no ‘Batman’. But I have one question. If there is no ‘Batman,’ why do we get the Batman posters in the background on the right? Do you know? Can someone please call Zack Synder and ask. Thank you.
This is not a one-hundred-percent proven Easter egg but many people think that Suicide Squad director David Ayer is referencing the 2009 movie
Watchmen in the scene when Will Smith’s character Deadshot takes a look through the store window. There is this giant smiley as decoration in the background and such a smiley is sign of the Watchmen. Well on their smiley is a little bit blood but all in all, it’s the smiley. Now it’s up to you: Easter egg or just coincidence?
The Big Bang Theory
CBS series The Big Bang Theory’s nerdy characters love comics and TV series so they do a lot references to things like Spider-Man or series like Heroes or Star Trek. But creator of the series, Chuck Lorre, put a nice Easter egg into the series. He is also the creator of Two and a Half Men, and this series includes one episode in which the character Charlie Harper gets the job to write the title music for a new anime series named Oshikuru. This series does not really exist in reality but is mentioned in both of these series. Chuck Lorre created Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory.
How I Met Your Mother
In Season 9, episode 12 of How I Met Your Mother, the group does not seem to run out of jokes about Canada. It’s not important why they’re joking or what they really say. What is important is everything that happens in the background. You see a cute couple. In the next moment, the guy proposes to the woman. Then you see the same lady pregnant followed by the same couple in another shot as they celebrate their sons graduation from college in the next moment. And in the end, you can see the same woman with an urn most likely her husband in it. In these few moments, the couple lived their whole lives in the background. Crazy huh?
