Chicago Muggles are in for a treat. City Winery has announced their “Expecto! A Harry Potter Wine Dinner”. It features a four-course prix fixe menu set to pay homage to each of Hogwarts’ houses.
“With a dash of mystery and a dollop of creativity, we will conjure up a prixe-fixe meal that not even “Obliviate” will make you forget,” the restaurant’s website promises.
Tickets went on sale to VinoFile members on today (Sept. 27) at noon and were to be available for purchase by the public on Thursday, Sept. 29 at noon. A quick glance at City Winery’s website, however, shows tickets for both days are sold out.
You area able to add you name to a waiting list though. The price is $85. That’s approximately 17 Galleons, 11 Sickles, and 12 Knuts for those witches and wizards who want to get in on the feast.
The real question is, what’s on the menu? Hogwarts features a lavish and lovingly prepared meal three-times a day and somehow manages to top it on holidays and special occasions with a grand feast. Everything you could ever desire for dinner is there awaiting you when you step into the Great Hall. How will any Muggle establishment compete?
Even though most guests will certainly want to down as much (elderflower?) wine as possible, maybe there is room to add in a few fan favorite drinks as well. Namely? Butterbeer. If you’ve had the pleasure of going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios, then you know that Butterbeer is the sweetest and most delicious drink in the magical land.
(The pumpkin juice and fizzy peach tea are pretty tasty too, fyi.)
But for those of us not in Chicago or unable to Apparate there, we’ll have to wait for Potterheads’ reports and reviews to hit the Internet next month.
