We’ve got about a year and a half until Black Panther hits theatres.
Let me be honest. This cannot come soon enough to this fan. With a cast that is filled with amazing talent, a young director on the rise, and promises of a great story, I feel like the film can be a real turning point.
Also I just really, really want to see Wakanda. Like so, so, so bad.
Well we still have some time, which means while we wait for news, we’re going to be looking for secrets about what to expect in his solo film.
The Russo Bros, or at least one of the brothers, did mention something for us to keep our eyes on.
While taking fan questions with Quora, someone asked if the ring that both T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and T’Chaka (John Kani) wore in Captain America: Civil War would have any special significance.
Anthony Russo teased: “Black Panther’s ring is special to him because it was worn by his father, the king. When he puts it on for the first time in Civil War, it’s symbolic of him taking on his father’s role. As for it’s powers, we will all have to wait for the Black Panther movie.”
This whole ring thing is a new development for fans of the character.
Becoming the Black Panther is a very mystical process while T’Challa uses the technological wonders of Wakanda to aide him. Now my understanding of this lore is very sketchy, but I do know that T’Challa needs to consume a special herb (the Heart Shaped Herb) and go through a rite of passage to complete the process.
Although, he did seem to have the powers come Civil War. So maybe the ring can like temporarily grant the abilities or something?
I am now very curious about this ring.
Black Panther will be out February 2018.
