Jumanji filming is under way, and the social media stream is flooding us with all the best moments from on set! Everyone’s favourite new comedy duo, Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson, are teaming up again after the success of their summer action comedy Central Intelligence. Joining them in this jungle adventure is Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan, and the legendary Jack Black.
Earlier this week, Hart shared this cast photo on Instagram. “We had an amazing first day,” he wrote. “The chemistry & energy of our cast & crew was beyond amazing!!!! This movie is going to be dope as hell.” We absolutely agree – everyone certainly looks pretty dope!
Johnson has previously referred to this film as a “continuation of the awesome Jumanji story,” rather than a reboot, so we can’t wait to see what adventures unfold! He gave us a sneak peek in a Bear Grylls-esque fashion on his Facebook. Watch what he has to say as he reports “from deep in the jungle”!
Last but not least on this Jumanji social media catch-up comes the backlash regarding Karen Gillen’s outfit in the picture above. After accusations that her character’s attire is not exactly jungle-appropriate, Gillen tweeted to reassure fans.
“Jumanji! Yes I’m wearing child sized clothes and YES there is a reason! The pay off is worth it, I promise! #Jumanji,” she wrote.

Hopefully the plot really does back up her statement. The wording of her tweet is specific enough to imply that perhaps her character has been stranded in the jungle/boardgame since she was a child … maybe they’re literally child sized clothes!
Mysteries aside, we’re loving the updates from the cast on social media! Our anticipation for the film only grows every time we catch a glimpse of that amazing jungle!
