Justice League Action is the newest animated entry into the DC canon.

Yet it’s one that is made by people that fans of the DC Animated Universe would recognize. The DCAU includes animated shows by DC, duh, but is also the shorthand people use to refer to the series Bruce Timm made. Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited; all of these shows are just examples of what follows under the DCAU umbrella.

Alan Burnett was one of those forces behind those shows that defined a lot of childhoods and made a lot of fans. If you liked those shows that I just mentioned, then he thinks you’ll like Justice League Action.

Burnett worked on shows such as Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, but the Justice League shows remain absent from that roster.

He’s pretty proud of what he put together though.

In an interview with Comicbook.comhe said: “Now, I’ve made a show I really like about the Justice League. Batman: The Animated Series was a little older, and this one is a little younger. It’s an action show with comedy, but the stakes are always serious.”

While at SDCC, I went to the Justice League Action panel. We saw an episode of the show and I thought it was absolutely amazing. So I definitely agree with that assessment.

He even talked a bit about Batman, who Kevin Conroy is returning to play, along with the other Trinity Members, Superman and Wonder Woman.

“You’ll see the curmudgeon here, when he deals with heroes like Booster Gold, who has all kinds of schemes to get rich, and other characters, too. Superman’s still the stalwart Boy Scout, but he seems sweeter to me in this one. And Wonder Woman comes off as a great warrior, and a lot of fun, thoroughly modern.”
