What do we really know about The Flash’s Dr. Caitlin Snow? She’s sweet, loyal and wickedly smart. She also has a pretty badass doppelganger on Earth Two. But there is little that we know about her past life, her family and friends, about everything that happened to the brunette genius before the particle-accelerator malfunctioned. But it seems that season three of The Flash might introduce us to one character from Caitlin’s past in particular.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Collider that Caitlin Snow’s mother might make her way to Central City come fall. “We haven’t met Caitlin’s mother yet,” he said. “We got a little talk between the two women, which will probably play out in Season 3.”
So, what do we know about Mama Snow? The Flash gave a first tease of Caitlin’s familial situation in the 19th episode of season two, when she came face to face with her doppelganger Killer Frost. The scene was not just a pleasure to watch, but also a phenomenal performance by Danielle Panabaker. “She put in a 17-hour day in two cells,” said Kreisberg. “The table read was great because there were these volleys back and forth, where the voice would change. It was Danielle talking to Danielle, but it was tremendous to watch. And then, you put her in that outfit. There’s always a lot of stuff going on, but she was phenomenal with it. She was loving every minute. It was really, really impressive to watch.”
The two ladies shared a chilly exchange, briefly delving into what had turned Earth 2-Caitlin cold. Killer Frost shared that she had dropped out of med school and moved back to live with her mother, who she described as a “frigid narcissist”. Caitlin was quick to agree that her own mother was “cold as ice” as well. Ouch! Some things never change, not even in an alternate universe.
In addition to that, Killer Frost revealed that she had a brother, Charlie, while Caitlin is an only child. Is there a long-lost brother waiting for Caitlin on Earth 2?
What’s behind Caitlin’s relationship with her mother? And who will be joining the cast to embody her? Leave your suggestions in the comments below.
The Flash returns with season three this fall on The CW.
