We haven’t seen the last of Nardole! That’s right. Matt Lucas will be reprising his role in the upcoming series of Doctor Who. We last saw him in the Christmas special last year, “The Husbands of River Song”, where he played a native to the planet Mendorax Dellora.

TVLine reports that he will star in the season 10 premiere, alongside Peter Capaldi, of course, and our new companion, played by Pearl Mackie. Mackie has made her name on stage in the West End’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.

The show is set to begin filming on June 20th in the BBC’s Cardiff studios, and Lucas seems pretty hyped! In a statement he said: “I’m chuffed to bits that Nardole is returning to the TARDIS for some more adventures. I loved acting with Peter [Capaldi] and I’m excited to work with Pearl [Mackie].”

Executive producer and Doctor Who head honcho Steven Moffat said he’s “[d]elighted and slightly amazed to be welcoming Matt Lucas back on to the TARDIS — and this time it’s not just for Christmas, he’s sticking around. One of the greatest comedy talents on planet Earth is being unleashed on all of time and space.”

Now, the Americans amongst you may recognise Lucas from his appearances in shows such as Galavant, Fresh off the Boat, and Community, but we Brits know he truly made his name in the iconic comedy series Little Britain

Here’s a little taster for you!

More recently, Lucas starred as Bottom in ex Doctor Who writer Russell T. Davies’ adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the BBC Shakespeare festival. Amongst the multi-ethnic and sexuality-bending fun fest, Lucas still managed to stand out with his classic style of comedy.

Doctor Who’s tenth season is set to air in 2017.
