DC‘s Legends of Tomorrow has found its new Vixen, and she’s no stranger to The CW.

Maisie Richardson-Sellers has been cast in the role of Vixen for the upcoming season of Legends. The actress was previously on The Originals, where she played Eva Sinclair, the witch whose body Rebekah was inhabiting on the supernatural drama. That experience should come in handy for her new supernatural-esque role on the superhero time-traveling show.

It was reported earlier in June that Vixen, who was played by Megalyn E.K., will be joining Legends as a series regular but that she wasn’t going to be played by E.K. due to her schedule. The actress isn’t currently available to reprise her version of Mari McCabe. E.K. will still be on board to voice animated Mari in the CW’s Seed

As a result,  it’ll be a different, earlier incarnation of the character, which totally works for the show’s time traveling theme. Richardson-Sellers’ version of the character is Amaya Jiwe, who’s the grandmother of Mari McCabe. Like her granddaughter, Amaya’s powers are derived from the mysterious Tantu Totem, which allows her to magically access the abilities of animals.

Given that it is a earlier incarnation of Vixen, it looks like the team will be retrieving Amaya from the past to join their ranks. After all, they have lost a few team members since season 1 wrapped up in May. Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold sacrificed himself to save the team in the episode “Destiny” while The Hawks (Kendra and Carter) bid adieu to their fellow Legends in the season finale.

Vixen’s role on Arrow helped the show progress with its magical and mystical element this past season when the team faced off against Damien Darhk. Given that the Legends are existentially going to be the new Time Masters, it will be interesting to see how she fits in.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will return in the fall on the CW on October 13 at 8/7c.
