Everyone seems to want a Black Widow movie, including Elizabeth Henstridge. On Saturday (June 4) at Awesome Con 2016, the actress commented, “I’m having an obsession with Black Widow at the moment. I want her to have her own movie… and I want to be in it!”
Henstridge participated in a Q&A with fans at Awesome Con alongside former Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. co-star Brett Dalton. Or should that be “former”? Although Grant Ward (spoilers!) was apparently blown up in space in the season 3 finale, does that mean he’s gone forever? Henstridge offered that just because his character died doesn’t mean he’s out of options. “You could have your own show just like Coulson has his own show!” she said, referencing how Clark Gregg’s character got his own series after seemingly dying in Avengers.
Dalton was also very candid about his desire to stay in the Marvel universe, joking he could return as one of the Life Model Decoys that were introduced in the season 3 finale. “When I turn into Elizabeth’s boyfriend,” he teased.
The actor also spoke at length about the honey substance he was coated in for Hive’s “rebirth” scene. Apparently the substance was very cold and very uncooperative, sliding off him and needing to be reapplied for each take.
Whether he returns to the show or not, Dalton has kept his allegiance very consistent. Asked which Civil War team they were on, he proudly shouted, “Team HYDRA baby!” Henstridge commented, “So is that Team Cap now?” referring to the recent Captain America comic, in which the hero is revealed as a member of HYDRA.
Continuing her role as the Captain of the FitzSimmons ship, Henstridge also revealed the change she would make to Simmons’ character is to “make her more forthright. Her and Fitz could’ve gotten together 10 years ago!” The audience cheered in agreement.
Fan support and passion are just two of the reasons why both actors agreed that the Marvel fans are the best around. As Dalton put it, “I’m part of the coolest universe in the world with the coolest fans.”
