When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wrapped its third season in May, the last few minutes left fans wondering what will next season bring them as a lot of things were up in the air. The show ended the season with a flash forward featuring only three of its major players: Daisy, Coulson, and Mack (spoilers ahead).

Prior to the flash forward, the team had suffered quite a loss in its battle with Hive and his Inhumans. Lincoln sacrificed his life to finally take out Hive and died along with the villain in outer space when he flew the Quinjet out of the Earth’s atmosphere, depriving himself and Hive of oxygen.

After that event, the show then did a time jump, which found Coulson stripped of his position as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and hunting down a now apparently rogue Daisy along with Mack. Along with turning into a well-known fugitive labeled ‘Quake’ by the media, Daisy has also cut her ties with S.H.I.E.L.D.

The change to a rogue version of Quake didn’t surprise her portrayer Chloe Bennet. The actress recently spoke out about how Lincoln’s death has impacted Daisy. “It makes her more ruthless, being so close to what she thought was her own death. And then it happening in one of the worst scenarios she could ever think of, which is the person that she loved doing it for her, I think it changes her in a way where she probably will face life with even more ruthlessness.”

Bennet also touched upon the tone of the finale’s last moments and what might have been going on in Daisy’s head when we saw her in the flash forward.”There’s a sense of sadness that was there that I tried to make apparent at the end of the episode.”

As for what the future holds for Daisy, it’s up in the air due to the events of Captain America: Civil War. Since it’s all connected, the Sokovia Accords will definitely have an impact on the Inhumans remaining on the show and the remaining members of Coulson’s team.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return in the fall on ABC.
