Now that we are recovering after the greatness (and emotional pain) that is Captain America: Civil War, we can also start preparing for the next big Marvel movie: Doctor Strange.
Here, we will further explore the cosmic side of the MCU. We will meet Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme.
Production has wrapped and the first teaser has been released, but that doesn’t mean the movie is ready. There are still many details to polish and others to add – like the music.
Last week, Academy Award winning composer Michael Giacchino announced on his twitter account that he will be the one to bring the magic in music form for Doctor Strange.
Giacchino won a Golden Globe, Grammy, BAFTA, and Oscar for his work on Pixar’s Up. He has won other awards for his work on The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Lost: Pilot. He has worked with Pixar multiple times but he has also scored sci-fi movies such as J.J Abrams’ Star Trek, Super 8, Cloverfield, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Jupiter Ascending, among others. His most recent works include Jurassic World, Inside Out, and Zootopia.
In addition to Doctor Strange, Giacchino will also score Star Trek Beyond, The Lego Batman Movie, Cars 3, and The Incredibles 2. A busy man!
As you can see, Giacchino has a lot of experience in geek world (and Disney/Pixar, mostly). It’s not completely surprising that he was the chosen one for Doctor Strange – but it surely is 100% exciting. Think of the beauty (and how trippy!) the final product is going to be, once we have music and those mind-blowing visuals together.
I just want this movie to be released like…right now. I don’t want to wait until November.
Doctor Strange will be released on November 4th. Let’s hope we get a preview of that score before the movie comes out.
