All day long, fans all over the world have been celebrating Star Wars Day. It’s become quite the holiday in the fandom.
Hamilton‘s Lin Manuel Miranda, who is a big fan of the franchise, joined in on the fun as well. He took it up a level by inviting Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams to perform the new Cantina Song from the movie. Miranda wrote the little diddy for the epic blockbuster in case you didn’t know.
Before launching into the song, Miranda provided some insight about the song. The song is in Jabba the Hutt’s native language of Huttese. According to Miranda, it literally translates as “No lover, lover, it’s not me.” Miranda joked: “It’s literally a Shaggy intergalactic remix.”
Check out the video below of their performance!
Miranda and Abrams can do no wrong, am I right? Anyone else feel like they’re hanging out with Maz Kanata?
You can nab the song for your own enjoyment as well. It became available on iTunes today.
We hope everyone’s Star Wars Day was a good one!
