iZombie has had quite the ride this past season and will be back for more next year when its third season premieres in the spring. On March 11, 2016, The CW renewed the series for a third season, much to the delight of its fan.
Rose McIver’s Liv Moore won’t be alone next season as Aly Michalka’s Peyton Charles will also be along for more adventures in Zombieland.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Michalka has been promoted to series regular. The actress has been on iZombie on and off during the last two seasons as Liv’s roommate Peyton.
Peyton spent the first season expressing concern about Liv’s declining interest in life after the boat party aka the event that turned her into a zombie. She worked as an assistant district attorney for the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Peyton learned of Liv’s secret at the end of season 1, prompting her to leave as she really could not deal with her roommate being one of the undead.
Peyton returned in season two, in charge of the task force against Utopium, the drug partially responsible for causing zombism. Peyton also carries an on and off again relationship with Ravi. Since her return, Peyton has reconciled with Liv. She has also slept with Blaine without knowing he turned Liv into a zombie.
Peyton ended the season by being rescued from Boss’ henchmen by Blaine as the zombies were poised to take over the world. It will be interesting to see if Peyton gives into her feelings for Blaine after the events that transpired in the finale.
iZombie will return in spring 2017 on The CW.
