This post contains spoilers for The Flash season two finale.
The Flash season two finale left WestAllen fans hanging in the worst way possible. After Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) confessed their feelings to each other, Barry asked Iris for some space.
After this confession, Barry went back in time and saved his mother’s life. What does this mean? Well season three is going to have one screwy timeline.
Sure maybe Barry and Iris will somehow be together in this new chain of events that will comprise The Flash. I, however, don’t have faith. If there is one things that TV shows love doing, then it’s screwing around with ship teases until the fans are just left begging for scraps.
I, however, have little hope for WestAllen somehow ending up together for season three. Carlos Valdes who plays Cisco Ramon describes the third season as like “waking up in wonderland” to DC All Access.
That doesn’t sound very good. It’s going to be Flashpoint all over again.
So, presumably, Barry is on the market. Sure, he’ll know what he and Iris said to each other in the timeline we are most familiar with, but Iris could be with anyone or not even know Barry in this “wonderland” timeline.
Grant Gustin, however, does offer an alternative ship should Iris be unavailable: Kara Danvers aka Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).
“We had a really fun dynamic and I bet next year, there’s probably more crossovers than we’ve ever had,” he said.
Personally, I am for Supergirl and The Flash having some super adorable crossovers together. I was delighted by “Worlds Finest” and even started shipping SuperFlash. Not as much as I ship WestAllen, but they were so cute. Of course, Kara is with Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks). I’m having conflicted feelings here.
Gustin thinks that the Kara/Barry ship could be “a good match”.
I want SuperFlash, but I want WestAllen! Oh. SuperWestAllen? I think I feel a new OT3 hitting me.
