Could Jared Leto Be The New Lestat In Reboot Of Interview With The Vampire?

You all might have thought that Vampire movies might have been a thing of the past, but it seems we were wrong about that as not only is their plans for a reboot of Interview with the Vampire with Josh Boone adapting the novel by Anne Rice, but Boone himself has hinted that Jared Leto will be joining the project as Lestat.

There has been no official announcement in regards to the casting news from either Boone or Leto but it looks rather hopeful with Boone’s tweet about the casting:

Again this isn’t official confirmation, but it shows that Boone and his team already have their dream Lestat in mind, a role which has been made famous by Tom Cruise in the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire and by Stuart Townshend in 2002’s Queen of the Damned.

Ok, so here is the part where I say how I’m not a fan of reboots and such and how I’m not sold on this until I see a trailer or something … But this time, it’s different. This time, I’m more willing to give it a chance I there are a few reasons why. Firstly, the potential casting; Jared Leto in my head makes perfect sense to play someone like Lestat and if the rest of the casting ends up as good as this, then it’s going to be good. The next reason why I think it’s a good idea is that the Rice family seem to be behind the adaptation. After all, Anne Rice’s son Christopher Rice tweeted about his excitement for the film:

So, all in all, this sounds like a really good adaptation and reboot of the film and I can’t wait to hear more about this project!
