Can you feel that? It’s the Marvel fandom preparing for the release of Captain America: Civil War, also known as “the movie that will break our hearts and will probably end a few friendships”. The closer we get to the big day, the more goodies Marvel releases to make us even more excited about it.
In the last days, Marvel has been sharing a series of featurettes to provide insight into the characters and the story. This time, it’s the ladies turn.
This featurette focuses on the heroines of Civil War: Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and Sharon Carter/Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp), who discuss their roles in the film.
To the surprise of many, Black Widow is on Iron Man’s side, but don’t think it was an easy decision to make. Like in everything, there are pros and cons to each side, so Natasha did what she thought was best.
“Natasha is a bit torn between either side. With Cap, they really have a relationship where she wants to reason with him, but she sees Tony as a path of least resistance”, Scarlett Johansson said about her character.
We know Sharon Carter is on Cap’s team but we hadn’t really had the chance of seeing her in action… until now. This video also has some bits of new footage, including some quick looks at Sharon being a total badass – and fighting Bucky. That will probably break our hearts.
“Sharon Carter is a little sassier and gets a little bit of fighting in this”, Emily VanCamp said.
As for Scarlet Witch, who is also on Cap’s side, Elizabeth Olsen shares that the thing she likes the most about her character is that she is terrified of her own abilities – someone we clearly saw in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Seeing that Sokovia was her home and her twin brother died when defending it from Ultron’s army (RIP Quicksilver, we will never forget you), it’s easy to see why she chose Cap’s side and why she is still terrified of what her powers can do.
The video ends with the ladies fighting: Sharon against Bucky, Wanda most likely going against Crossbones’ gang, and Black Widow fighting Crossbones himself (I may or may have not seen it frame by frame to confirm that it is in fact Crossbones. I love Crossbones, guys).
And these are our badass ladies joining the fight between Team Captain America and Team Iron Man. Thankfully, it’s only a matter of weeks until we see everyone in action.
Captain America: Civil War will be out on May 6th.
