The Jungle Book Cast Take A Walk On The Wild Side

Time to take a walk on the wild side! The cast of Jon Favreau’s live action The Jungle Book movie risked their lives to get these posters out to you… just kidding! That’s some impressive CGI work, though. Check out these incredible shots of the voice-cast posing with their animal characters.

This is our first up close and personal look at these beautiful animals – and what a star studded cast, too!

Idris Elba as Shere Khan… I certainly had nightmares about that tiger as a child! Elba’s fresh off the back of the success of Netflix film Beasts of No Nation, so adapting to the jungle probably wasn’t too difficult.

The legendary Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Iron Man 3) looks serene next to Baghera, the friendly jaguar. What a hypnotic gaze.

Talk about hypnotic, here’s Scarlett Johansson’s Kaa. Whilst most of the other animals seem in proportion, this snake certainly is larger than life. You can see Johansson take to the screen as a spider too, this spring, as the Black Widow in the eagerly awaited Captain America: Civil War (April 29 in the UK and May 6 in the US).

These two have been thrown to the wolves! Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) looks stunning as Raksha – the wolf that raised Mowgli. Check out this incredible still of her with Mowgli, too.

Giancarlo Esposito (Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Once Upon A Time) poses with Akela.

Christopher Walken (Seven Psychopaths, Wedding Crashers) looks positively tiny in the shadow of the hulking King Louie.

Noticeably missing from this photoshoot is Bill Murray as Baloo the bear. I guess we’ll have to wait to see him on the big screen.

And that’s not all – legendary motion capture actor Andy Serkis will be making his directorial debut with Jungle Book: Origins, with a totally different cast next year – Serkis himself as Baloo, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, and Cate Blanchett as Kaa, to name a few.

You can catch The Jungle Book on April 16th.
