Keanu Reeves Says Third Bill And Ted Film Is Totally Coming… Maybe

Two years ago we were telling you about the third impending installment of Bill and Ted, the most excellent movies starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.

In a recent interview with IGN, Reeves said that the movie is “closer, but not closer”. Which is awesome, because it’s coming but it’s not coming. Which is very much a Ted “Theodore” Logan (Reeve’s character) kind of thing to say.

The 51 year old actor went on to say, “We’re expecting another draft and hopefully we’ll get closer,”

The production team doesn’t even have a green light on the film at present, with it being listed as still In Development. Reeves went on to say, “We’re trying to get the story right. We’re working with this studio so we have a little bit of support, in a sense of like if the material comes through we’ll try and make this picture.”

So while the project, which has been trying to move forward for almost three years now, has not moved forward too much yet, it is encouraging to know they are working on the most fundamental part; which is a good storyline so that it feeds in to the original cult classic movies, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey.

Alex Winter is currently working on another project, a documentary entitled Who the F*@% Is Frank Zappa?, while Keanu Reeves will soon be seen in the romance movie The Bad Batch and the next installment of John Wick.

Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure was released back in 1989, and while it was met with extremely cynical reviews of both the script and the gags in it as well as mention of the wooden acting of both stars, it has in fact gone on to become one of the most truly bodacious comedies from the 80s. Not to mention it launched the career of Reeves in particular who became a heart throb and appeared in countless movies from comedy, to romance and, of course, the sci-fi series The Matrix.
