The wait for Game of Thrones season 6 is almost over, and fans have been in a frenzy since last season’s finale, where it was left to the imagination whether Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) is dead or alive. Since the finale, it has been teased numerous times that Snow is dead but it won’t be confirmed until April 24.
This week, series newcomer Ian McShane added to the hype. McShane’s character has yet to be revealed but the actor is not keeping quiet about his mystery role. While being interviewed on BBC Breakfast, he recently dropped some hints about what’s to come for some fan faves while stating that his role will be one of great importance.
During the interview though, McShane also dropped what appears to be a very big spoiler. “So I have this group of peaceful, sort of like a cult, a peaceful tribe. I bring back a much loved character everybody thinks is dead,” shared the actor.
That statement in itself can mean many things as there are several characters that fans would love to have back. Robb, Catelyn, Ned, Oberyn, and Ygritte are just a few that come to mind.
This isn’t the first time McShane has teased his role. In a previous interview, the actor said, “I am responsible for bringing somebody back that you think you’re never going to see again. I’ll leave it at that.”
Game of Thrones is known for the shock value so as whom it is that McShane’s character revives, time will definitely reveal all when the show premieres. To up the secrecy factor, HBO has decided not to provide advanced copies of episodes to critics, partly due to last season’s epic leaking scandal.
The wait will finally be over soon for fans. Game of Thrones returns on April 24.
