Just when you thought the ensemble for Edgar Wright’s new film Baby Driver couldn’t get any better, they go and cast a The Walking Dead alum (and recent member of the Marvel family).

According to Deadline, Jon Bernthal has joined Wright’s new project in the role of Griff, though there are no more details on this character. Will he be a baddie? Will he be a hero? Only time will tell, but my bet is on “baddie”.

Bernthal joins an already interesting cast with Ansel Elgort as the lead character, Baby; Lily James as Baby’s love interest; Jon Hamm, who will play a vicious killer; Eiza González as the girlfriend of Hamm’s character; Kevin Spacey, a crime boss; and Jamie Foxx, an impulsive gun-slinging member of Spacey’s gang.

Baby Driver follows a near mute getaway driver with an ear condition (Baby aka Ansel Elgort) who relies on the beat of his soundtrack to drown out the constant ringing in his ears. Appropriately named ‘Baby’ due to his youthful face, he works for different bank robbers, including Spacey’s character, Doc. One bad day, a robbery goes wrong, and Baby sees himself involved in the mess.

The movie is said to rely a lot on music, as you can see, and it has been described as a “collision of crime, action, music, and sound”.

Bernthal might be best remembered by his role as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead, but the world is about to see a whole new side of him, as he will join Matt Murdock in the second season of Daredevil as Frank Castle aka The Punisher.

Baby Driver has already started filming in Atlanta (yes! Also, Atlanta gets all the good stuff), and it’s expected to hit theatres on March, 2017.

Hey, does this mean we could have a Baby Driver panel at SDCC? Hope dies last, they say!

We will keep you posted on further details regarding Edgar Wright’s new project.
