Jessica Jones is a show made out of standout performances.
One of those many performances is Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker (formerly Patsy Walker). A former child star turned lifestyle guru who helps her best friend and foster sister in anyway she can.
Like everyone in the show, Trish was overcoming in her mental scars and struggles anyway she could. She trained in martial arts, got a security system, and cut her abusive mother out of her life. She was also instrumental in Jessica finally being able to defeat Kilgrave.
For comic book fans, however, they were left wondering if another part of Trish Walker would reemerge in life action.
We’re talking about her superhero identity of Hellcat.
Hellcat had gotten a new title series in December. I’m really excited to check it out once I have some free cash to spend on comics.
Naturally with this new series, it would be interesting to see her appear in Jessica Jones’ second season. Rachael Taylor definitely would like to get into the bright yellow suit herself.
Talking with Comic Book Resources, Taylor said: “I try not to get ahead of myself and think about it too much, because it’s easy to get carried away and think about things. I already feel like I have more than my share, in a way, being on Netflix, being in the Marvel Universe, being in this show that has resonated so deeply with people. But of course, I mean, it would be amazing. … To take it that one step further is something that, yeah, I’d love to get my teeth stuck into whatever happens to the character.”
It would be interesting to see how Taylor would bring the Hellcat part of Walker alive in the MCU. I think that would definitely be an interesting take going into season two as well. Taylor even has figured out why Trish would want to don on a brightly colored outfit of her own.
“I think for Trish, part of her shadow personality is that there’s a certain covetous part of her. I think she covets some of the things that Jessica has. I think there is an unholy ambition that sits just under the surface. She declares it in the show. Jessica says, ‘What else could you possibly want Trish?’ And Trish says, ‘Well, to save the world, of course.’ Which is kind of a very unusual thing for a character to say. I do think there’s a part of her that would love to make it right in the way that she thinks Jessica could make it right if she was just to overcome her dysfunctions and put down the bottle,” Taylor said.
Trish and Jessica’s relationship made up one of the most fascinating and touching aspects of the first season for me. I would love to see what would happen if Trish wanted to join her best friend in crime fighting as well. It would already add another dynamic to a faceted relationship between the two.
